Filmmaker, Editor, Producer, Director of Photography, Photographer, Artist
Lauri Hakola is an award winning artist and filmmaker.
He was born in Oakland, California in the last months of World War II. All of my grandparents were born in Finland and immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s. I had many interests as a child and learned electronics and worked with my dad his photography darkroom. I went to college but was drafted into the US Army and went to Vietnam.
When I returned I took up an interest in pottery and began make a living with my eyes and hands. I added candle making and started a small art and craft store in Wenatchee, Washington. On a trip to visit my brother in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I fell in love with the area. Here I discovered jewelry making and metalsmithing. Over the next 25 years I plied that art until the present time. I also do painting and photography professionally.
About 15 years ago I began to be interested in computers. I taught myself to program by reading books and utilized the computer in my jewelry business. When more refined graphics became available on computers, I involved myself in the design possibilities of 3D modeling and their application in presentation and video work. I have now moved to video and audio production as a full time venture as outlined below.
